So Jeff Goodell, the author of Big Coal, is at it again. His newest book, which hits stores April 15, is called How to Cool the Planet: Geoengineering and the Audacious Quest to Fix Earth’s Climate This time around, Mr. Goodell tackles the relatively recent development of “geoengineering.” For those of you who haven’t heard of “geoengineering,” it’s a new and controversial science that seeks to find ways for humans to intercede and slow the process of global warming. Some folks are all in favor of this; after all, if we can stop it, why not? Others, however, are not so sure. They question the long term implications of suggested practices such as “solar shielding,” as well as the political maneuvering that’d undoubtedly be required. It’s obviously a bit of a conundrum. What do you think?
