This Tuesday is GiveNOLA Day, and all of us at Green Light New Orleans hope you will help support our work by making a contribution if you’re able. Green Light provides rain barrels, gardens and light bulbs to New Orleans-area residents to help our city become more sustainable and healthy.
So far in 2020, we have installed nearly 170 rain barrels at homes throughout New Orleans. Our program is unique because it is available to all residents of the New Orleans area and only requires the recipient to contribute a minimum $10 cost share. For that cost share, the recipients receive a beautifully painted rain barrel and have it installed by our team.

In addition to rain barrels, Green Light installs vegetable gardens at people’s homes and provides support for gardeners throughout the city. Our garden program has gained in popularity! In the past few weeks we have distributed 700 seedlings to our gardeners partially thanks to seedling donations from Anna Timmerman. Our energy-efficient light bulb programs also allows us to provide LED and CFL light bulbs to New Orleans residents and helps reduce our city’s carbon footprint.
Your donation will help us continue to offer these services to all New Orleans residents, no matter their financial situation. Flooding, subsidence and global warming affect us all, and we believe finances should not prevent someone from being able to participate in the solutions to these problems.
