In March, Green Light New Orleans made the difficult decision to cancel all of our scheduled volunteer events due to the coronavirus. Our volunteer coordinator Jillian Welsh picked up the slack by prepping rain barrels to be delivered to artists throughout the community, and our installer Brett Thorne was able to continue installing barrels at people’s homes without a big dip in installation numbers. In fact, we installed 50 rain barrels in March, 40 in April and 40 in May.
But now we’re happy to report that we’re slowly opening our office up to volunteers again. We’ve implemented strict social distancing guidelines and a requirement that volunteers wear face masks while working at our office in order to keep everyone safe.

If you’re interested in getting out of the house and helping with this community project, or you need community service hours, you can fill out a volunteer form here. Our office is generally open to volunteers Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. If you have questions, feel free to call us at 504-324-2429.
