Green Light couldn’t be more grateful for our Board President and resident artist Rebecca Madura. A New Orleans native, Rebecca studied studio art at Newcomb College and the University of Texas at Austin. Rebecca is heavily involved in the New Orleans art community, she has over 25 years of experience in art education working with New Orleans schools, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and YAYA Inc.
Rebecca’s work draws inspiration from the more than human world. Over the past year Rebecca has been involved with Green Light’s rain barrel program, painting over 24 rain barrels and 1 cistern. Each of Rebecca’s uniquely painted barrels evoke awe and excitement for program recipients. Rebecca’s gifted ability to render the wonders of nature transform Green Light’s barrels into a powerful tool for community environmental education and artistic expression.
