Dr. Vandana Shiva is renowned Indian ecofeminist scholar and environmental activist. A self-defined anti-globalist with a background in physics and technology, Shiva offers an interesting perspective on the global political economy. Combining intellect with activism, Shiva will speak on fossil fuel industrialization as well as proposed solutions to climate chaos. She has published numerous works on feminism, international development, environmental and human rights, spirituality, agriculture, and biotechnology.
Dr. Shiva is the founder of Navdanya (a seed protection and biodiversity conservation organization), the author of Staying Alive (a book about social justice, women, and development), and recipient of the 1993 Alternative Nobel Peace Prize (the Right Livelihood Award).
