Whole Foods graciously donated $400 to build a backyard garden for Barbara Mack, this covers all of her materials, plants, a garden class, and at least 2 years of follow-up support. Barbara is a New Orleans Resident that has been waiting patiently for her Green Light Garden since applying in 2015. The gardeners on our waitlist either have to cover a full cost-share or wait until we receive grants or sponsors willing to pay for their garden. Whole Foods not only sponsored Barbara’s garden but also provided two of their employees to install it- Nicole Poirier and Mallory Broussard, we are so thankful for your hard work!
Barbara is excited to finally expand out of the pots she has been growing vegetables in, we are confident that she will see a lot of success! She is grateful for Whole Foods and Green Light New Orleans and was eager for this project to finally happen, she says,”I enjoy backyard gardening because it helps keep me active, engaged, and eating healthy. As a senior it gives me something to look forward to doing on a regular basis, I enjoy sharing the things I’ve grown with family and friends and I enjoy going in the backyard to pick what I may need when I’m cooking.”
We have many more people on our waitlist, if you or your business would like to sponsor either a garden or a rain barrel you can give $400 on our donation page, please specify what the donation is for an we will follow-up with you about highlighting your support on our social media platforms.
