Green Light New Orleans Current Interns

OFFICE INTERNS:

Kelley Walton
Kelley Walton“Kelley Walton is a senior at Tulane University majoring in Sociology and Spanish, with a minor in Gender & Sexuality Studies. After completion of her Honors Thesis, she will graduate Summa Cum Laude in May. Post-graduation, Kelley plans to spend some time teaching English abroad before developing a career in the nonprofit sector and possibly returning to graduate school. She is excited about being part of the Green Light team this semester and learning about nonprofit operation while helping to reduce NOLA’s environmental impact. In her free time, Kelley enjoys salsa dancing, reading, and spending time in nature. “

 

Caroline Kropke
Caroline Kropke“Caroline Kropke is the Assistant Office Manager Intern at Green Light New Orleans.  Caroline joined Green Light in January of 2014.  She is currently a junior at Tulane University.  She is an English major minoring in Economics and Art History.  She is in the honors program at Tulane, is a Founders Scholar, and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.  Caroline is an active member of many organizations on the Tulane campus, including Kappa Kappa Gamma and the Tulane University Swim Club.  Caroline has also been active volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Animal Rescue New Orleans, and Reading is Fundamental. Caroline is from Sea Girt, New Jersey where she graduated from Saint Rose High School and swam competitively for the Monmouth Barracudas Swim Club.  She has worked as a lifeguard for Spring Lake, NJ for the past six summers. “

Lucila Gambino
“I was born in Argentina, and its culture helped shaped my upbringing and grounding. I moved back and forth from there to the U.S., and have settled in Miami, FL for the past nine years. I’ve always had an active lifestyle and enjoyed sports. I took on swimming from a young age, competing until the end of high school. Exploring the outdoors and all the things one can find in nature captivate me as well. Backpacking and kayaking are two of my favorite things to do. I am now in New Orleans studying at Tulane University majoring in Sociology and Communication, and minoring in Psychology. The city has strengthened my love for music and dancing and I have had amazing experiences so far.”
Aurora Gundersen
Aurora Gundersen“Aurora is a senior at Tulane University and joined the Green Light team as an assistant membership program coordinator for Green Light this spring. Aurora is planning to graduate with a B.A. in political economy this coming May. She has experience studying economics, international relations, policy analysis and sustainable development. Before attending to Tulane, Aurora lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.”
Destiny Karash-Givens
Destiny Karash-Givens“Hi, I'm Destiny and I'm an Environmental Science Sophomore at Loyola University New Orleans. I love travelling, taking pictures, and being outside to enjoy nature. When I graduate I plan to do something to promote sustainability or help clean out the oceans, and just to make the environment a better place as a whole.”
Shang Wu
Shang Wu“Shang is an assistant office manager intern at Green Light New Orleans. He grew up in Baton Rouge while spending part of his life in New Orleans from high school to college. He is currently a senior at Tulane University studying Economics and Mathematics and set to graduation in May 2014.” 

GOAL INTERNS:

Charlotte Hauser
Charlotte Hauser"Charlotte graduated from Wesleyan University last spring with a degree in Film Studies and moved down to New Orleans in September.  Although she is relatively new to the city, Charlotte has already fallen in love with New Orleans and relishes the opportunity to interact one-on-one with residents through Green Light.  She believes firmly in the importance of creating a sustainable community and is honored to be a part of the Green Light team.  Charlotte also interns at Court 13, a New Orleans-based production company, and in her free time collaborates with a group of women filmmakers she met at Wesleyan."
Jay Todd
Jay Todd"Before becoming a Green Light Goal Intern, Jay was President of the Service Coalition at the University of New Orleans department for volunteering and community service.  He steered the movement to get recycling on campus, and was responsible for several community service projects, including coordinating several volunteer groups with Green Light New Orleans.  In addition to working for Green Light, Jay also works at Ronald McDonald House Charities, which provides transportation and a "home away from home" for families with sick children seeking medical specialists in the New Orleans area."
Erin Turner
Erin TurnerAs a recent Tulane University graduate, Erin has just begun her career in the non-profict sector as a Green Light Goal Intern. After spending three months pursuing her passion of traveling throughout South East Asia, she has centered her career path along the developmental field. In the future, Erin plans to advise and assist developing nations in economics or public policy. When Erin is not working at Green Light, she is often found listening to live music down on Frenchman Street, or enjoying the delicious food New Orleans has to offer.
