Donation Spotlight: Compost from Westward Productions!

April 7, 2018 By Amelie Desormeaux

compost donationWe are grateful to Westward Productions for their donation of compost to the Green Light New Orleans Backyard Garden program. Westward recently wrapped filming “The First,” where the production operated a green set and office dedicated to minimizing carbon emissions and single use plastics. Feeding hundreds of cast, crew, and background talent each day, television sets often produce a significant amount of food waste.  Westward wanted to be as efficient with their resources as possible, and so began composting veggie scraps and other organic waste which was donated to us this past month. We are excited to give lots of nutrients to our plants in the Edible Teaching Garden and in the Backyard Gardens by using their very rich compost. We hope to see all the other productions filming in New Orleans follow suite and operate more sustainably!
