Our rain barrel program is sustainable because of the cost-share program, which went into effect after our rain barrel pilot program was completed. This means we ask our applicants to consider their financial situation and make a monetary contribution. The minimum is $10 and the total cost to supply and install one rain barrel is $173. Because our waiting list is growing, we’ve come up with an alternative to get you your rain barrel faster and increase the number of barrels installed in the city in a cost-efficient manner.
We are initiating our “buy a rain barrel, give a rain barrel” program. You will pay for the price of your barrel, the paint, artist stipend, and the spigot and bearing for a total of $95. Then you double your contribution totaling $190, to donate a barrel to another applicant. Buy a barrel, give a barrel is a great opportunity for those who feel comfortable installing a barrel themselves and are financially prepared to give the full amount. The purpose of this program is to fundraise for the sustainability of the Rain Barrel Program. After the baseline cost of $190, if you would like any additional barrel materials, you must pay for those as well. Upon request, we can install your purchased barrel for an hourly rate. Look below to compare the costs of a rain barrel installation and the buy a barrel, give a barrel program.
