Interns: Lisa and Alex

Hey everyone! My name’s Lisa and I’m one of the new summer interns with Green Light New Orleans, and will be bringing you new blogs every week! Each day our office seems to getting just a bit more crowded, but we could not be anymore excited about having our SIX new summer interns! Read a little bit about them here, and we’ll be featuring another two every blog:

About me:

“Hey everyone! My name is Lisa and I’m so excited to be one of the new summer interns with Green Light New Orleans. This is my first summer here in New Orleans, and while I’ve been warned about the sweltering heat, I’m hoping my days growing up in south Florida have prepared me well.  I’m a rising senior at Tulane University majoring in Environmental Studies and International Development. After graduation, I’m hoping to go to medical school to study tropical medicine, combining my love for the environment with its effects in medicine and global health.

If I can bare the heat, this summer I’m hoping to start running again, as well as finally have some time away from school to play tourist and see even more of what New Orleans has to offer. Though I’ve only been with Green Light a few days so far, I already love getting to know everyone here in the office, as well as everyone I’ve met out in the community so far. I’m so excited to be working with Green Light and know this is going to be a fabulous summer. Also, don’t forget to check out the Green Light New Orleans blog, which I’ll be updating weekly!!”

About Alex:

“Hi! My name is Alex and I am a senior at Tulane University. I am originally from West Hartford, Connecticut and I just returned home to the States after a 4-month study in Geneva, Switzerland! Aside from skiing in the Swiss Alps, attending lectures at the United Nations and eating as much cheese and chocolate as possible, I spent the semester interning at the International Centre for Migration Heath and Development and studying Global Health and Development Policy! I am currently studying Public Health and International Development at Tulane, and am planning on getting my masters in public health starting next fall!

Working towards creating sustainable change in my community has long been an interest of mine. Green Light’s mission perfectly matches my own interests towards creating a positive, green change in the New Orleans community and I am very excited to work here this summer!”
