Volunteer

Green Light New Orleans has endless gratitude for our superstar volunteers! From weekly volunteers committed to aiding their community, corporate groups seeking bespoke team-building experiences, and school groups from 8th grade through post-grad, we truly could not continue our good work without our village of helpers. In an average year, Green Light hosts upwards of 1,000 volunteers, educating them on the “why” and “how” of our programs while engaging them in all phases of rain barrel preparation. From unloading our food-grade barrels from the trucks of our mom & pop purveyors to the finishing touches, like adding spigots and mosquito nets, no two volunteer days are the same, and volunteers are involved every step of the way. 

We accept volunteers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, in shifts from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM; and we rarely have a day without at least one or two volunteers. For larger groups…we do recommend morning shifts, and our on-site maximum is 28 volunteers (give or take). Saturdays fill up quickly, so inquire about availability ASAP!
