Farewell, Delta 7

The AmeriCorps NCCC Delta 7 team worked a Kaboom playground build as one of their independent service projects. The team has finished their service with Green Light New Orleans and will now head out to Mobile, Alabama. We will surely miss them and are very appreciative of all the work they have done for us.

The time has come to part ways with our dedicated and hard working AmeriCorps*NCCC team. The Delta 7 team of the Vicksburg, Mississippi campus has been with us since September 1st and has added spirit and creativity to the Green Light family.

The team played an integral role in the debut of the Tip the Block program, starting with Hollygrove and then continuing to the Carrollton Riverbend neighborhood. Not only did they install light bulbs in nearly every house in those neighborhood blocks, but they also conducted field reports to see what other energy saving services and resources they might be interested in. The information gathered by the Delta 7 team opened many new opportunities for both Green Light and community members.

Team members also worked on various office tasks as well. One member set up our Facebook fan page, which is now up to 715 fans and rising. Others worked on brochures and reworked our donation handout. In addition to the work they have done with us, they have been participating in independent service projects in their off time. The amount of work they have put in during the 6 weeks of their service is more appreciated than they could know, by both Green Light and the New Orleans community.

The Delta 7 team is leaving Green Light on October 15th and will be heading to Mobile, Alabama to work at L’arche Mobile assisting in home renovation for disabled residents. We are sure they will perform with the amazing work ethic for the people of Mobile as they have for the community of New Orleans. Good luck Delta 7- you will be missed!
