GEAUX HORNETS!

It’s Lisa again! Each week, we get volunteers from all over the country, including California, Florida, Washington, South Carolina, and Mississippi. But this week we want to give a special thank you to our very own local NEW ORLEANS HORNETS! Yesterday was the second Friday in a row they’ve volunteered with Green Light and we could not be any happier to have them. Last Friday, in just a few hours, they installed a whopping 471 CFLs! This will save New Orleans residents 185,574 kWh of energy, $21,666 in energy costs, and reduce the carbon footprint by 210,537 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions.  Yesterday, they installed 498  CFLs and saved New Orleans residents ANOTHER  196,212 kWh of energy, $22,908 in energy costs, and 222,606 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions.

[My favorite part of the day was] having conversations, really getting to know the people, and seeing the look on their faces when you would explain the implications of saving all the energy. You could tell it really made some people’s days! -Paul Epstein
