Support Hollygrove Market & Farm

Our friends at Hollygrove Market & Farm are doing some of the most important work in the city related to improving healthy food access, creating community and strengthening the local economy.

Hollygrove Market & Farm is a community-owned urban micro-farm, local food hub and grocery store that provides locally grown produce to New Orleans residents. Aside from hosting great events like their weekly Saturday brunches, Hollygrove hosts educational workshops and events for the community.

The fact is, operating a neighborhood grocery store like Hollygrove, where workers are paid a fair wage and farmers are paid fair market rates, is difficult enough. Last week’s hurricane scare had a big effect on Hollygrove’s weekend sales, which are a big part of the organization’s revenue.

If Hollygrove is to continue and move forward with plans to renovate its property, it will need the community’s help. The organization has launched a fundraising page to help it complete a renovation project in conjunction with Rebuilding New Orleans Together, Shell and the Junior League of New Orleans. The renovation will allow Hollygrove to host community meetings, outdoor events and educational workshops while creating another revenue stream which will give the organization financial stability.

If you value ensuring that every New Orleans resident has access to fresh food, and if you believe farmers and workers should be paid fair wages for their work, we hope you’ll join us in supporting Hollygrove.
