You Can help Young Judaea Make an Impact in New Orleans this Winter!

This December, Green Light will welcome back volunteers from Young Judaea for the third year in a row. Young Judaea is a zionist youth organization that gathers youth from all over the country and around the world, engaging them in projects that emphasize peer leadership, political non-partisanship, and religious pluralism. Young Judaea’s Alternative Winter Break (AWB) program gives youth from all over the U.S. an opportunity to travel to New Orleans to volunteer with local organizations. Alternative Winter Break volunteers have worked with Green Light since 2010 (check out this Green Light blog post to see what they were up to in 2010). They have installed a total of 1,556 energy efficient light bulbs, saving New Orleans residents $71,576 in utility costs and reducing the carbon footprint of the community by 695,532 pounds of carbon dioxide.
We are looking forward to working with this group again! This year they will be building backyard vegetable gardens for folks as well as installing light bulbs. They are also attempting to raise $2,000 for the project and they could use your help! Check out their fundraising page and make a donation if you are able. Your money will help them have a big impact in New Orleans this winter!
