Green Light New Orleans’ mission is to invest energy in people and assist New Orleans residents face to face, one household at a time. Our volunteers install free energy efficient light bulbs to demonstrate that a mass movement of individual actions creates a significant impact on our environment and community. Green Light New Orleans connects residents to relevant, local opportunities and encourages individual actions so that everyone can benefit from a vibrant, resilient, and sustainable community.
Green Light New Orleans, a community-based, environmental non-profit, is looking for a qualified and dedicated individual to become part of its core team as early as September 1, 2012. This position is an AmeriCorps position through the Louisiana Delta Service Corps.
Louisiana Delta Service Corps (LDSC) partners with non-profits, community and faith based organizations, public schools and government agencies to help build safer, smarter and healthier communities. LDSC is an AmeriCorps program and is one of over 400 AmeriCorps National Service programs. Known as the “Peace Corps of the Delta”, LDSC creates opportunities for AmeriCorps members across the Louisiana Delta region to perform vital services in neighborhoods and communities. Members receive a living stipend of $12,100 and a $5,350 education award upon completion of the 11 month service year. To learn more about the Louisiana Delta Service Corps, visit:LA Delta Corps

Corps Member responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:
— Facilitate daily operations.
— Recruit individual volunteers and volunteer groups
— Train volunteers for outreach and installations
— Track and Document volunteer feedback
— Conduct outreach at community meetings and events
— Maintain volunteer capacity goals
— Create social and traditional media releases and updates
— Schedule residential and specialty installations
— Organize installation events
— Collaborate on intern and AmeriCorps team coordination
— Coordinate education-based activities for school classrooms and clubs
— Manage the central database.
