MAKE YOUR MARK rain barrel paint kit

December 19, 2020 By Andreas Hoffmann

Involving kids In designing their own future creates lasting change.

In partnership with The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation, Green Light New Orleans is able to offer schools the opportunity to paint rain barrels. Barrels are painted by students (K-12) and later installed in the community by Green Light New Orleans. The art box is used to teach water management to students, while they get to paint a rain barrel. How cool is that?! Schools are eligible for up to 4 barrels. Green Light delivers the barrels together with 4 art boxes to the school. The box is printed with information about New Orleans’ water issues and possible solutions and includes paint, brushes, an artist guide and postcards. Once the project is finished Green Light picks up the painted barrels and gets them ready for installation. The students get to keep the art box.

Watch the art box video for more detailed information about the content of the box. Applications to participate are available at Green Light New Orleans (email Andreas Hoffmann) or directly at the Brown Foundation.
