Check it out: you can get a rebate for new Energy Star appliances!

Are you looking to purchase a new appliance? Make it an Energy Star-rated appliance and you can receive a Louisiana Department of Natural Resources rebate through a program called “Empower Louisiana.”

The rebates for Energy Star-rated equipment will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis through February of 2012, or until the $6.8 million in funding has run out. To participate, you must reserve your rebates prior to purchasing the appliances.

Reservations for rebates can still be made through the program website at www.empowerlouisiana.org or by calling 1-877-223-6979.

The money comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to support energy efficiency efforts in Louisiana.
