Green Light New Orleans and Dyverse City: A Partnership for Unity and Stability

We would like to offer a warm welcome to Dyverse City, a new partner to Green Light New Orleans! As a partner, Dyverse City will be giving us a permanent table inside their facility to help us promote our free energy-efficient light bulb program. Dyverse City is a business that includes environmental awareness in its mission, along with youth mentoring, positive change, and creative entrepreneurial endeavors. Living a green lifestyle and starting a business inside of a co-working business environment is not only cost effective but makes a positive impact on the community and the environment. Through particular mentoring and guidance programs, Dyverse City hopes to encourage and empower youth to reach their full potential. Dyverse City also hopes to pass on the message that in order for us to continue to live in the world that we enjoy now, we have to care for it properly; a unified front is a strong front; values are important and need to be learned at a young age; and change cannot be implemented in a year or two, a seed must be planted and nurtured over time.

The location of Dyverse City, housed within a 10,000-square-foot facility, customizes spaces for creative entrepreneurs, artists, crafters, photographers, et cetera. The customized spaces are conducive to the needs of creative entrepreneurs and gives said entrepreneurs the affordability and flexibility they need to expand their businesses. These 46 spaces are ideal for retail startups and craft galleries. The spaces are full time, private business spaces that are available to residents Tuesday through Saturday, 10 o’clock in the morning until 6 o’clock in the evening. The smallest studio galleries available are $150 per month, and larger studios are available.

An after school program is currently in the process of being implemented by Dyverse City, as well. The program will introduce youth to different activities such as fencing, world dance, sculpture, science and technology experiments, et cetera. The goal is to mentally stimulate the youth of New Orleans so that they understand that there is a whole world available for them to explore and that the possibilities are truly unlimited. Mentoring and guidance from some of the city’s most renowned figures will also be integrated into the curriculum, and adult classes will be offered.
