Hoffman Triangle Neighborhood Association Meeting!
Tuesday, Jessica, Sam, Kyle, and I (Camille) got to attend the Hoffman Triangle Neighborhood Association Meeting. It was held in the basement of Pleasant Zion Baptist Church. We were there to tell the residents about Tip the Block and learn more about what they want the volunteers to do in their neighborhood. At first, we were worried that no one would come. After about ten minutes, the entire room was completely full of people. It was definitely the most well-attended neighborhood association meeting I had ever seen. Our announcement was the first thing on the agenda. We gave them a run down on the Tip the Block program and then answered questions. It was very cool when some of the residents and Kyle recognized each other from when the AmeriCorps volunteers canvassed the neighborhood. There were many more announcements about topics ranging from building a community center, to lot clearing, to painting a mural, to fighting blight. There was much more going on in the Hoffman Triangle than I had realized.
